What Are Dental Implants?
How Does the All-on-4 Treatment Concept Work?
If you are missing all of the teeth in a single arch, an implant-supported denture is used.
This restoration uses 6 to 8 implants to support your arch of replacement teeth. However, for this treatment to be successful, you need to have sufficient bone mass remaining in the jaw. Bone loss begins shortly after tooth loss.
If too much bone mass is lost, the jaw cannot support the titanium rods properly. This can result in implant failure. The failure of even one implant can compromise the entire restoration.
It used to be that if you did not have the necessary bone mass, you had one of two options. You either had to undergo an invasive bone graft surgery, which requires a lengthy recovery, or you were relegated to dentures.
The All-on-4 treatment concept allows you to get dental implants without the need for another surgical procedure. Instead of 6 to 8 implants, the All-on-4 treatment concept uses only four implants to support your replacement teeth. The success of this treatment is not in the number of implants but in their placement.
Two implants are placed vertically at the front of the jaw. Here, there is naturally more bone mass. The other two implants are placed at the back of the jaw. They are inserted at a 45-degree angle, which maximizes contact between the implants and the bone and takes advantage of the bone mass you do have.

Less surgery, which means a shorter procedure.
Shorter recovery time.
The need for a bone graft or sinus lift is eliminated.
You avoid the need for traditional dentures.
