If You Regularly Snack on Fresh Produce, It Can Leave You With a Whiter, Healthier SmileDo you want whiter teeth? Of course, you do, who doesn't. If your teeth are stained it doesn't exactly boost your confidence when you smile.

You know that tobacco, tea, and coffee can stain your teeth so you know to stay away from those. You also know that foods with high sugar content do nothing to help keep your teeth healthy.

But the fact is that during the day you may want to snack on something. When you go to the nearest vending machine you see that there is nothing there that will help your teeth. The foods are too starchy or too sweet and you know that unless you brush your teeth directly after eating them, the damaging food particles will sit on your teeth until you can brush again.

Fortunately, you realize that if you brush too often you run the risk of damaging the protective enamel on your teeth. So what are you supposed to do?

What Can You Snack On?
There are plenty of foods that you can snack on and when it comes to eating fruits and vegetables you have quite a few choices. Variety is always welcome because eating the same snack over and over gets boring and is not sustainable. Eventually, you will just head back to the toxic vending machine.

When you decide to use produce as your snack of choice, different snacks have different benefits. Some act as natural abrasives that clean your teeth, while others contain components that prevent plaque from forming.

How Does It Work?
There are two enzymes in some fruits and vegetables that help to keep your teeth clean. They are bromelain and malic acid. Both act as natural stain removers. These, along with crunchy vegetables, increase saliva production, which is your body's natural cleaner. You can start chomping on apples, strawberries, celery, carrots, and oranges.
